Ok, well I'll start my naming my top five....(also just because I'm a Lesbian, doesn't mean I can't find guy's attractive too so don't think this has to only be sexual attraction)
(In order top to bottom for me)

1. Grace Slick (Very very pretty, great voice!)
2. Tom Petty (I don't know why, he's just a looker, and gives off a sexy vibe)
3. John Lennon (He's so cute, love his nose. Oh and he's a genius!)
4. Eric Clapton (Yesterday or Today ;) )
5. Ringo Starr (I don't know why, something about him...maybe his smile?)

Hmm..noticed not many of these were women..actually only one..hmm..wonder why that is. Ok your guys turn.

I've not found musicians anywhere near as attractive since I joined a band, tbh :D

The ones that come to mind though:

Justin Timberlake
Xzibit
Brandon Boyd (Incubus), even though he looks like he'd be a bit of a prat in real life.

Can't really think of many others. Couple of local peeps but that's about it. There's a general look a lot of them have that's kinda appealing, but doesn't really matter who has it so...

Haha, totally get the Ringo thing, actually. Not so much now but he was a little cutey in his day. He looks so adorable and mischievous in 200 Motels when he has to say naughty words!

Elvis Presley in that Suspicous minds video where he is in that black leather jumpsuit thing, man alive he is sooooo friggin hot in that one, one of my first big TV crushes when I was a kid

I've always been a metal fan, Kerry King from Slayer always bothered me some, that sweaty man beast thing....Grrrr

Kerry King...maybe....may be a bit rough though don't you think ;). Oh and yes Freddie...forgot about him...he's a cutie. Oh also Janis Joplin maybe? She is very pretty, at least to me..something about her really long hair is attractive to me.

Just a little bit! Didn't he once say that if he was stuck in a lift with a homosexual he'd stab them or something like that?

Homophobia is so frickin' hot, yo!

Vanilla Gorilla

A bit rough?, well thats kind of the point ;)

As for him being homophobic, well thats why you have to take it on a case by case basis, Mr Average straight guy is homophobic cos he has no idea what gay guys are looking at. Kerrys case it would have more to do with the fact that he gets more than his fair share of guys making sexy looks at him, epescially in the entertainment industry. He'd also get more than his fair share of girls (girls that are really thinking about babies) making sexy looks at him compared to the average Joe. So he'd have a better idea of the similarity between looks of the two groups, and thus what some gay guys are really looking at.

Homophobia - its one thing when straight guys start looking at gay guys and find themsleves getting a bit bothered, then getting angry becuase of that. totally differnt thing when they see too many guys looking at them knowing how bothered the gay guy is getting.

My point? - He can run his fingers along my fretboard anyday ;)

That's kinda beside the point: a fair few rock stars have probably been in a situation and got through whole decades without saying they'd knife a homosexual if they were stuck in close proximity to them. I'm sure they're not all hideous and I'm sure a lot of them have far far more of a gay following than Kerry King.

^^^

He has to cater for his fan base though. Which is ironic in itself, I've been to a few Slayer concerts, in the mosh pit with another couple thousand big sweaty guys with their shirts off, its just about the gayest thing you can do withyour pants still on ;)

I also remember the Axl Rose / Elton John fiasco, I forget what Axl said, but he said something homophobic, caused a riff for a few years, they eventually made up at the Freddy Mercury concert. But at the time I had to laugh at the irony, cos back in his hey day Axl was one of the most effeminate male rock stars on the planet

Oh, well, there's always been this thing of excessive masculinity just coming off as gay. How else was Rob Halford so able to hide in amongst the overtly heterosexual rock crowd?

To be honest though, you see live footage of a Skrewdriver concert, and yeah, it's a big pile of sweaty men, but those sweaty men are violent sexist racist sociopaths who would probably kick you to death if you made a pass at them. I get what you're saying, but I think you might be under-simplifying it, to be honest. I don't believe that keeping up an image can be used to cover anything one might do or say, and I doubt anyone's going to accuse King of being gay so I don't see that he has much to compensate for.

Vanilla Gorilla

Hmmm, well you can fight the good fight against homophobia if you want.

For me, Most of it is maturity related anyway, Under 25 it mainly comes from straight guys that have no clue / experience about women.

And I myself freely admit I am heterophobic with some heterosexuals, some guys are just feral with the way they view / treat women, makes me want to hurl. At the same time some girls are just way too skanky for me to want to be in the same room with them

SelfControl
05-20-2008, 04:30 PM
Yeah, but I've found that with gay guys too. Generally, if someone letches inappropriately, it's a bad thing, even if you're gay and they're gay too. So what if you share a sexuality? It's still gross, not because they're gay or straight or male or female but simply because it's a social nicety.

I'm not massively active against homophobia, but I don't think it's a necessarily phase that just passes if people aren't called on it now and then.

And I myself freely admit I am heterophobic with some heterosexuals, some guys are just feral with the way they view / treat women, makes me want to hurl. At the same time some girls are just way too skanky for me to want to be in the same room with themI feel exactly the same way. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.Sometimes I feel like I'm gonna totally freak out in what to most people is a completely normal situation. The method of operations for alot of heterosexuals makes me quite sick!,Not everyone of course, but alot of times I can't stand it and want to puke.I think, can anyone see what's wrong with this picture or is it only me,It seems alot of the time heterosexuals can get away with the most outrageous nonsense bullshit behavoir (with a "Well at least they're not gay" type attitude,so who cares). While if you're not anything but straight you're guilty of being immoral, sinful,a slut just for being GLBT Bi/Gay etc..To be dispised just cause you're not straight.I don't mean to whine or bitch,I apologize.I've been noticing this for along time now and it has been bringing me down and saddening me.I don't see it all the time (just most times lol)but when I do I want to run as fast as I can in the other direction.Am I being too neurotic or is it all in my head?Am I making mountains out of molehills(I don't know).
Anyone else expirience this?Let me know,I'm really not sure if I'm being way to neurotic or not. This is completely off topic so I apologize.

I apologize again(Off topic).
To correspond with above post (This is a good example, for instance of some of the kind of stuff I mean)Not the only thing,I came across this video last night and thought I'd share it now.
Intresting fact,..Did you know In 42 American states it is NOT illegal for students to harass someone based on thier sexual orientation.
This includes all kinds of harrasment.

Short video of GLSEN an organization protecting GLBT student rights in America.

I still say David Bowie is Hot as hell, exceptionally talented sexy and just appealing, and just overall attractive. He just does it for me.
For the women I'd have to say Joan Jett, down to earth. She rocks, has her own record label, just totally cool.

Anyways,I apologize for the 1000 time for being off topic, but your thoughts and comments are appreciated even if you tell me I'm dumb for posting this here lol.

Stay happy,on a good,on a bad day
In time you will move mountains
It will come through your hands.

I read a book called Queer Noises recently as part of my dissertation research, a fellow called John Gill is not at all keen on David Bowie. He makes some pretty valid points about him choosing to use gayness to boost his profile at a time that was more sensitive in terms of gay rights and gay media visibility than probably any other. It was pretty interesting.

So yeah, weird thing, actually: Stockhausen was kinda cute in his youth. RIP.

Joey*
05-20-2008, 09:36 PM
Well that's intresting.
I don't know what Bowie's intentions were at that time. There actually may be some truth to that, but then lets remember with his high profile how much hate mail he must have been getting.Whatever the case Bowie is a great talent or else he would'nt have been here all these years(and he's not slowing down).
There's alot of things that happen with celeberties that are for publicity.Look at George Michael, being caught in a public restroom with another man going at it in LA a few months ago.I think that was purely a publicity stunt.I have one of his dvd's and on the first song (Called outside)he acts out the entire scenario, sex, police, everything. If you saw the dvd you'd think it was obvious, but who knows. He may just have a fetish for public restrooms.
Very often the media is manipulated to be used for a marketting tool.I don't know if it's right.Sometimes it can do more damage than good.Sometimes it can do more good than damage.Everybody has an opinion though, you know how that goes.
It does sound like an intresting book,it does'nt seems like the guy is throwing blind accusations instead he really has reasearched what he has to say about Bowie.Bowie's been accused of alot of things before.
Do you think Bowie's high profile open gayness overall had a good effect boosting the knowledge that glbt people are alive and well, and plenty of them out there?Do you think the way he portrayed himself being openly gay had an overall negative effect on the gay community, maybe by portraying a slutty negative image or in any other way?I don't really know,Bowie's heyday was before my time.I never really thought about that.If anything I felt it was a good thing boosting the profile of gays in the community. That maybe only because I related to his music so much,I dunno lol.Intresting thought.

And it's whispered that soon
If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter

It may have had a positive effect, but the fact that he went from gay to bisexual to bi with a preference to married with kids kinda suggests a lack of commitment...

That's a good point,makes sense,intresting.
Who really knows?
It may have been good at the time way back when, yea.
I do find it a bit confusing with what's going on with him now,all the changes.I don't know if it really makes sense to me.
Maybe it's just how things turned out for him.Maybe his marriage is very open, for other partners I suppose that could be possible.Maybe he's sort of full of crap lol.Sometimes peoples prefrences change though,it may seem extreme,it does happen all the time.

It may have had a positive effect, but the fact that he went from gay to bisexual to bi with a preference to married with kids kinda suggests a lack of commitment...maybe there should be a queer rule that allows you to change your sexual preference once in your life lol...

i can see if a person did it often.. for example, i've always thought about myself being bisexual but i find myself these days wanting to be with a dude more often, yet when i was around 20 i was attracted to girls way more.. i mean i still am, just not like i used to... still doesn't make me gay i don't think, but i've wondered about it to be honest.

it's a bit odd for someone to have always been attracted to the same sex only to start liking the opposite later on? Or maybe just having a bad experience with the same sex could make a person swing in the opposite direction? food for thought.

I'm thinking that, given social stigma and such, someone who "comes out" and means it seems far more likely to be telling the truth. Most people start out "straight" and come out as gay, not the other way around.

Seems almost like there's a message in David Bowie - okay, so you're gay, but, you know, it's a phase, it'll pass, one you meet the right woman, etc. ... :jester:

Joey*

I understand what you're saying SelfControl,
There really is no debate.
I'm not saying that once you're gay one day you just wake up straight.
The way I interpret it is once you're are gay you are gay,you will always have a gay nature. The makeup of who you are is gay.Peoples prefrence though can and does change, and sometimes they only feel attraction to one person from the opposite sex,but to me they are still gay. They are a gay person in a straight relationship,it really is not so uncommon.Although others may see it differently, everyone's open to their own interpretation.
Many times people start out Bi but at some point they find that they are gay.I would never say to a person like that"No you're not gay,you are Bi".People change, situations change and life can seem very strange.I mean all the glbt community wants to be treated fairly and have a respected place within the straight community.Within our own community there is predjudice and disrespect towards others. This is the very same group of people fighting for their rights, how ironic and disheartening.Let's accept others sexuality even if we don't understand it.People should be free to be who they are.I don't always understand myself and the changes I go through,I don't want to be judged so I do not judge others.
I know you where not going out to assualt someone's sexuality. This is what I thought of when I read your post.
I myself don't care anything about Bowie's sexuality.
I just like his music.

I really want to refocus back to the original thread now.

The original thread was about what musicians we found attractive.

I also put a big vote for Melissa Etheridge, who is an amazing songwriter/preformer.She has a great personality,is down to earth.
She helped open up the music industry to other women with talent, both gay and straight. She's got a great body, beautiful hair. She's able to express her emotions thoughts feelings and expirience with such intensity, that just captures me.She's amazing.

SelfControl,
I don't want to continue talking about Bowie K??
Let's refocus back to the original thread and get back on topic.
I'm really intrested in peoples thoughts about musicians etc.
Let Bowie do what he wants. If he suddenly starts having an attraction to sheep and marries one and has little Bowie sheep,I don't care.It has absolutely no effect on my life what so ever.

Who are some musicians that you find attractive and why???
What do others think??
Who likes Melissa??

Hearing a hell of a lot of rumours about Lil Wayne...

http://images-cdn01.associatedcontent.com/image/A2934/29344/470_29344.jpg

Apparently though they just have a strong bond, like a father/son relationship... which kinda makes it, like, 10% less gay, and about 9000% creepier. "Yeah, let's have a good ol' fashioned father and son snog, eh?"

Recently kinda fell in love with The RZA. Very sexy looking man.

Inger Lorre was really, really attractive. Also, Patti Smith looked really good on one of her album covers. I can't remember which one. Kurt Cobain was good-looking, but I wouldn't say I'm attracted to him... Oh and Natalie Imbruglia haha. She's not much of a musician though.
