Well ya'll, that's IT for Las Vegas. The last of the 'Rat Pack' is gone. Joey Bishop passed on this last weekend. He was 89 years old. As far as I'm concerned, this was the official DEATH KNELL of the REAL Las Vegas. I'm very sad at the way things are these days...

Yep. Joey Bishop, the Comedian, was one of the original 'Rat Pack'. The last remaining one in fact. To me, That's the end of so called 'Fabulous Las Vegas'. Now there are only memories of folks like myself and probably Zillagod that even know what Las Vegas once was. Now, it's all Corporate and they don't give a shit if you had a good time here. As far as 'What happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas'? Watch the TV show COPS sometime.

RIP Joey. And yes Matt, as for "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" you should see the concert dvd's I have filmed in the past few years which are now circulating the planet, LOL.

Vegas hasnt been the same since the 70's though. As Matt says, the corporations have come in and taken everything over. When I moved here in 79, I may not have been old enough to go into many places legally, but yet I still did. The things I liked the most back in the late 70's was The Moby Grape on Trop and Flamingo, Captain Americas on Maryland across from the University, and I can never remember the name of the place, but it had the perfect numerical address for a rock club, 2112 Western, I think it is Cheetas now. What the heck was the name of the rock club that was there in the 70's?

I have been doing a search on 2112 Western Avenue where Cheetas is now. It is bugging me that I cant remember what the name was of the Rock N Roll Club that was in that building before. I will have to call the radio station tomorrow morning and get the answer. Ya know, just one of those things that bugs ya, LOL

I know I saw Foghat there once and I also saw a KISS tribute band by the name of Strutter there once, along with a few other concerts

What has happened to these forums? I hope it is just a temporary glitch.

I never got to see Vegas in it's glory... only 22. But the stories I hear are great. Back when the customer was taken care of... not the same way anymore... everything is based on players club cards and you have to be a real high roller to get much special treatment. On top of that all of the old casino's are being imploded. Such a horrible way to do things... I can't breathe well for about a week after a major implosion... but it adds to the flash and show. Hmmm.. that reminds me... I'll make a post about how Vegas is trying to become to "family oriented"
