America desperately needs a change in its politics. I believe Barack Obama is the candidate most likely to bring that change. The fact that he is reaching to all elements of society is encouraging. Lets hope for the best.

Obama seems to be the most down to earth and logical democrat, but he's still not convincing me to vote for his ticket. No democrat has [or will, I imagine].

Thanks for the link. Personally I think the message is one of pandering to the gay vote. While I do believe change is needed in this country, I also believe that most of the people in "WE THE PEOPLE" are not ready for an African American in a key position of leadership. But what do I know ?

Please, elaborate. I think people are ready to pounce, hah, and we should hear your two cents' worth before going in for the kill.

I think Duncan is saying he's afraid the general population of the US can't handle a black President yet, not staing his personal feelings. As far as I'm concerned thats all the more reason to elect Obama, to demonstrate that race has nothing to do with the quality of the person.

I think it's really sad if that proves to be the case. In fact, I'd find that downright primitive. When one considers how long the country's been around, and how long it's taken for there to even BE black/female candidates, it's depressing, especially compared against some other countries.

i agree. i think it is really sad. and all those people who dont think we're ready should pull their heads out of their asses and step into the 21st century. the people in our country need to learn to accept that this is a possiblity and judge him on how he presents himself and what he has to say, not his color. yea, it would do some good if obama was elected.

I think it would be a big step in the right direction if he was elected.
We seriously need to put the predjudice to an end.He has alot of good things to say and is confident he can make positive changes.
People who are bigots have serious mental problems,it's like a disease.
The world would be a much better place without their hatred.

Ron Paul is the best for gays, he wants to eliminate the licensing (government regulation). Issue resolved. And Obama is not for gay marriage, he is for civil unions, and he's really pro war. He said he wouldn't leave Iraq before at least 2013 after his meeting with George Bush.

i totally agree about ron paul. though i know hes not going to be elected, which sucks. although, my dad is a delegate for him. but that would so amazing if somehow he won. but the government is totally going to corrupt the votes if ron paul has a chance, because they wouldnt let him win. agh, fuck the government.

Obama and Hilary are two-faced; they are only telling the gay population what they want to hear to get their votes...
They flip-flop depending on their audience.

Why do Republicans hate gays but love gay prostitutes?
Pander to hicks and their homophobias for votes?
So I bet the guys like Rove,McCain, even Cheney (w/the gay daughter)
will vote in secret for Obama.
But I fear that in the future we may see headlines like.....Obama elected in 08' assassinated in 09'

I would definitely like to see Obama as president. His views might change about civil unions, you never really know whats going to happen a couple months or a year from now. The campaigns are just beginning.
Just a little tid bit, Obama spoke in at Atlanta to an obvious non gay crowd about homophobia and how american society has outcasted gays and said that we should instead be embracing or gay brothers and sisters. This was the first time a candidate brought up the issue to a nongay audience without being prompted to do so.
I give the man props

Keep in mind that, as that site makes clear, Obama has not said he'll fight for the right to gay marriage. He can say he loves gay folks all he wants, but until he specifically says he will fight for gay marriage on a federal level, he's wussing out in my book.
That said, I already voted for him today.

>> i like Obama because he's so cute !!!! i just want to kiss his lips. i hope he becomes president because he would make history. not only as the first african american president (although he's mixed)..but also as the cutest.
>> he is very sexy !!! we need change in the nation and Obama or Hillary are great candidates for the job. i don't know much about politics yet but we need someone whose going to stand up and fight for the lgbt community. you don't always have to be gay to stand up for gay rights !!!
(i want to register to vote and vote for Obama since i'll be turning 20 this may but due to the fact that i am not home in philly, i'll just wait till next time. i hope he wins though regardless !!! he is just too cute.)
>> thanks for that website. i am going to read it later in class today when i get a chance.

Voting for a candidate because they would "make history" is ridiculous, IMO.
Not only that, but neither Clinton nor Obama really care about the GLBT community...

Geez let's hope it's Obama, sounds like he's the only one in years anyone could possibly have a decent conversation with about these issues. I'm not convinced he's a perfect candidate and his campaign should be regarded with the same level of healthy cynicism as all the rest, but I think he's the lesser of all the evils this time round. If I was an American I'd vote for him.
It is hilarious listening to the addresses made by the candidates on the radio, US politics is so different, sounds like a circus. Anyway the rest of the world will breathe a sigh of relief soon enough when the elephant is dead. Bill Hicks for President.

http://pride.barackobama.com/page/content/lgbthomeIt's because Obama is funded by the gay mafia lobbyists! How do you think he raised so much money in a short time? And now he's pushing the gay agenda. One hand washes the other.
yeah i also think Obama and anyone else just wants those extra queer votes. once they're in office, it's bullshit from there on out..
if they can't even fix the issue with gas and oil prices what can they fix? nothing. I spent $75 filling the tank in my car only to do it again 3 days later.
america needs to stop depending on other countries for goods.. they're too chicken shit to drill a hole in the ground to extract fuel, but they'll let the other countries drill the holes.. there is only one earth, what difference does it make where it's extracted from? alaska alone has billions of gallons of fuel yet no drilling there...
if we drill our own holes (yum) we could have better control and environmental inspections. god knows what type of polutions those other countires are emitting by drilling.
i could go on and on.....
