I will be traveling next week and wanted to know where I should stop for lunch. I sure as hell don't want to stop at Burger King or Taco Bell. I am a big fan of old restaurants that serve good, cheap, real food. The kind of place that has been in the family for years, or generations. I'll be driving from Miami, up I-95 through Daytona, Jacksonville, Georgia, up through Columbia on I-26, through Spartanburg, Hendersonville, Asheville to my destination of Johnson City, Tn. Any suggestions for restaurants along this route would be greatly appreciated, and I will have time to travel a little out of my way, (for instance to Greenville, Brunswick or Savannah) if you think it would be worth it. I will probably be traveling this route quite a bit in the upcoming years, so it would be nice to know where to stop, instead of the golden arches or some other disgusting drive through.
