I went to see Transformers as soon as it came out. IT WAS FUCKING SHIT.
If I wanted to pay £6.80 to watch humans and how "amazing" the US air Force and EBAY are I would have spent my time online.
AND HOW DARE THEY CAMP-UP MEGATRON!

Hmm. Opinion has been divided so far from what I've heard. Some people love it, some people detest it...I've yet to hear a "meh it was alright" review.
My two friends who went to saw it say it stank, and from what they said there were a few clunkers. "Sam's Happy Time" was one of them, and Optimus saying "my bad"...in fact, the entire "lol big robots hiding in the garden" thing sounds a bit odd.
One of the guys worked at the cinema though, so they didn't have to pay to see it

It was wank. It was totally written in the wrong perspective. Since when did the cartoon series/film ever have the perspective of the humans? They were always extras. Infact, I even went and checked episode 1 of Transformers and humans don't actually even appear in this 21.57 minute cartoon until 16.37 mins or whatever!
Fucking disgrace of a film. The script and building of transformer's characters was awful. Megatron was a complete fucking pansy/joke. Prime was disappointing and if I wanted to wait 2 hrs and 20 mins just to watch some kid try and get laid...I'd watch any other Hollywood film at the cinema.
Totally should have gone and watched the Simpsons.

The first episode? Ahh, that takes me back. "More Than Meets The Eye". Do Sparkplug and Spike even appear in the first part? I can't remember.
Oh speaking of the first episode, I hear Prime's axe makes a welcome return?
I'm in two minds whether to see this film or not. I want to find out what it's like for myself, but on the oter hand, I don't want to pay (and add to the box office totals for the movie) if it's a load of cyber-donkey bollocks.

I still don't understand why you are so opposed to this film.
We didn't take away anything from the film the way you did. Yes, there was mention of Ebay, as the kid was selling stuff on it that the Transformers needed and that's how they tracked him down.
Obviously there is going to have to be some human envolvement. I don't see how they could have made the movie with the mass destruction, etc that occurs and not talk about the human element. Yes maybe it was corny in spots, but I only thought that added to making the Robots look more like 'good guys' and like they were trying to 'fit in' somewhat in their new surroundings.
And though I thought it was silly how they made sure to point out that the Muslim community seemed quite OK with the Air Force being there, by no means did this make the US Air Force seem like they were totally the good guys and not horrible. I mean, look at what they did to Bumblebee for fuck sake? It was again a total 'shoot now ask questions later' mentality.
I'm going to totally disagree with you on this one. I think it was a really ace film and definitely worth seeing even multiple times if I had the scratch to see it again.
And I think it is also silly to think that it is going to be exactly like the original cartoon in the first place. It certainly didn't do it disservice. If anything it will make a whole new generation want to go out and check out the old programs.

... oh, and no one gets laid in it so don't why you seem to think that.
yeah, he wanted to 'impress the girl' but that happens in A LOT of movies.
and you act like in the original version of the cartoon the other bots weren't always trying to hook up with RC. in series 3 Springer hooked up with RC in fact, they were always holding hands and in the same scene.
even in the comics RC was HotRods girlfriend.
and at any rate you can't make a live-action film (keyword being live-action) without their being human actors in the film or some sort of human envolvement and plot otherwise you might as well just make a kids animation film like Finding Nemo or Robots.

In fact, that always confused me, along with the child robots on the planet that Unicron munches through at the start of the original movie.

And now I'm going to be racking my brains trying to think of a non-animated film where no human actors were used on-camera. :(
Might go and see the film this weekend. :D

exactly that was my point. Finding Nemo WASN'T live action. Transformers was. By definition Live Action would mean that HUMAN BEINGS must be involved.

Wow, I know I'm a geek but you guys take the biscuit on this one.

It was an awful film, that's all there is to be said about it. I just don't understand how you could think it was a good film. It wasn't even done from the correct perspective.
Awful waste of time.
AND, I did watch the animated film soon after, just to allow Transformers to salvage some pride.
Also bought the classic episodes on DVD :D

i didnt' just think it was great, i'd totally go see it again.
there's never been a live-action version before, has there? you have to have human envolvement for a live-action film. as think that is quite a simple concept. you can disagree if you like, that is fine.
it does seem that everyone that sees this film (be they uber geeks or not) are completely pole-axed in their feelings about it. either people totally love it (like my hubby and me) or they totally hate it (like you seem to). there seems to be no one really in the middle saying 'eh, it was alright'.
bit strange that ...
funny you should say that, we just watched the original animated film last night.
we have it on DVD but watched it on ITV 4 as they were showing it. :)

Yeah we needed 2 Human lead roles.... ONLY 2.... Sparkplug and Spike.
The rest of the human parts are extras.
