Hm..okay whats so great about Ann Arbor?

I must have missed out on something, as I've watched the cops get progressively harsher with the homeless and the travellers (and locals), they've switched the shelter to be run by the city government rather then volunteers (meaning everyone who goes to get free food gets their names run by the Ann Arbor Police) So if you have any kind of record you avoid the free meals.

They've banned vendors at the hash bash, they've banned the naked mile, they've made it illegal to spange within a certain distance of the businesses, the cops will use whatever excuse they can and give you plenty of tickets if they don't like you...
You're not allowed to be on university property if you're not a student (which they enforce randomly)
Ann Arbor is just a corporate little town thats run by a big university.
If you aren't a student you'd better appear to be or you WILL get harrassed.

Personally, I like Detroit and the metro better.

Maybe someday Ill take you up on that offer. Unfortunatley im in the posistion of looking for a new job right now and with that comes the possibility of a drug test. ug

There's an art fair in Wyandotte this weekend, on Biddle (aka West Jefferson), there's usually some good art to gawk at there, and the park they've got along the river is a fairly nice place to chill for while.

I graduated from Ypsi high in 1981 and spent the most of first ten years of my adulthood in Ann Arbor. I haven't been back there since 1991 when I moved to California. Sometimes I kinda miss it.

I don't know if all of these things are still there but I miss the Arboretum, the Blind Pig, Zingerman's, The Treasure Mart, The Bird of Paradise, The Michigan Theater, Drake's, the music store next to Nichol's Arcade (name?), Nalli's, Herb David's Music, The Hash Bash, The Art Fair, half a dozen used book stores within walking distance, and a whole bunch of people who probably don't live there any more.

Thanks for indulging me in this moment of nostalgia.

techinically heinz park runs through a bunch of towns, northville, plymouth, westland, livonia etc

But the nicest part IMO is in northville which is just north of plymouth. We could meet somwhere obvious in plymouth first or meet in heinz park. Its really simple to get too.

I'll scout out the park today and see if I can locate a good spot.

There's a really good one in Ann Arbor on Liberty Street under Seva's the vegetarian restaurant. It's called Comedy Showcase. There is also one in Livonia, but I've never been to it. I definitely LOVE Comedy Showcase, though.

Too bad I was busy all weekend, pretty unusual for me. If I was around I would have helped you out, honestly I would rather have just stayed home, looking back at how my weekend went, I ended up driving way too much and I smoked my whole week's stash in 1 night with some unapreciative people. :(

Second, does anyone know anything about the local headshops? I've never been to one, but was wondering if besides smoking stuff they had any other stuff, like candles, tie die shirts/kits, etc. Specifically the Jungle Room/Purple Haze in Birmingham and BDT in Hazel Park?

The only two I ever go to are the station in dearborn on michigan ave and stairway to heaven in downtown ann arbor. Both are pretty good shops.
